A Minnesota driver, Chad Cheddar Mock captured video of a terrifying moment involving a toddler while driving in Mankato, Minnesota on January 14. The video captures the moment when a toddler, strapped into a car seat, falls out of a moving vehicle and onto the road.
Mock went into a state of shock as the rear door of the vehicle in front of him suddenly opened while the vehicle was still in motion. Moments after this, a toddler feel out of the vehicle.
Fortunately, no harm came to the baby as he remained securely strapped to a car seat, which took the full brunt of the fall.
With his heart in mouth from the terrifying moment just unfolded in front of his eyes, he immediately came to a halt and rushed out to the car seat to check on the child. The baby was just 2 years old.
He went into immediate action mode and waved at oncoming traffic to slow the drivers down.
Once the child was sent to safety of his parents, the authorities said that the child was properly strapped to the car seat but the car seat was not properly strapped into the backseat of the vehicle.
Relieved about the child’s safety, when he went back to his vehicle he realized that his dashcam has recorded the incident and he decided to share it to Facebook page in order to spread awareness among other parents about child safety.
So far the video has been viewed nearly a million times.
“If it didn’t happen in front of me, I’d never have believed it,” Mock said.
He further added that the ending of the horrific incident he witnessed did have a lucky ending but this does not deny the fact that prevention is always better than cure.
