Steve Grieg is an animal lover from Colorado who always had multiple pets in his house. He typically had three or four dogs at a time.
Sadly, one of Steve’s dogs passed away and that hit Steve particularly hard. He wanted to do something to commemorate his lost friend and so he heads to a local shelter and ask for their “least adoptable” dog.
Steve said, “So [I adopted] a 12-year-old Chihuahua [named Eeyore] with a heart murmur and four bad knees and I brought him home and that was just the beginning of all the animals.”
After this, Steve started adopting more animals in need. He now lives with 10 senior dogs and has started branching out adopting more animals. He has adopted two ducks and two pigeons. He also adopted a pig named Bikini. The pig thinks she’s a dog, and so she gets along especially well with her other friends.
Steve also took in a rabbit who he found in his front yard. Steve says that he loves to adopt senior dogs as they’re all incredibly well-behaved.
Steve says, “They’re just wiser animals. You kind of know what you want out of life once you become a certain age. These dogs know who they are and it’s easy to develop a relationship with a person or pet who knows who they are.”
Steve has started an Instagram page, “wolf gang” to show off his furry friends. The page is being loved by many and has more than 800,000 followers.
“They just makes it feel like home. It’s just fulfilling knowing that these guys are happy and loved and well-taken care of. It makes my days worthwhile,” Steve said.
