Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has registered with a ‘wellness retreat’ to reportedly undergo treatment for stress and alcohol use.
According to page six: The 32-year-old checked in to the luxury Privé-Swiss centre weeks before the show’s finale on 19 May earlier this month. The publication reported how Game of Thrones coming to an end ‘really hit him hard’ following eight years on the show portraying Jon Snow.
Recently in a statement given to sky news by a representative: “Kit has decided to utilise this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues.”
In an interview with Esquire, Harington explained how he felt when he filmed the final scenes of the HBO fan favourite, saying: “The final day of shooting, I felt fine… I felt fine… I felt fine… Then I went to do my last shots and started hyperventilating a bit. Then they called, ‘Wrap!’ And I just… broke down. It was this onslaught of relief and grief about not being able to do this again.
Page Six revealed that Harington has been experiencing mental coaching, practising mindful meditation and cognitive behavioural therapy to combat stress and manage negative feelings which cost him over $120,000 a month.
A friend told the publication: “The end of GoT really hit Kit hard. He realised ‘this is it – this is the end’, it was something they had all worked so hard on for so many years. He had a moment of, what next?
“He’s in the clinic predominantly for stress and exhaustion and also alcohol. His wife Rose is being extremely supportive. Everyone close to him really wanted him to get some rest. Right now, he just needs peace and quiet.”
