Kevin Hart has been involved with a car accident in California, the California Highway Patrol has affirmed.
The 40-year-old on-screen actor and comedian wea riding in his vehicle, which was being driven by Jared S. Dark. As per press statement from the CHP, the vehicle – a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda – smashed at 12.45am on Sunday in West Valley when Black turned from Cold Canyon Road onto Mulholland Highway.
The press stated: “Black immediately lost control of the vehicle and the Plymouth left the road and rolled over down the northern embankment.” It also said Black was ‘determined not to be under the influence of alcohol’.
Hart and Black were taken to the close-by hospital because of ‘major back wounds’, while another traveler, Rebecca Broxterman, suffered ‘only complaint of pain’.
According to the press release: “Two of the three occupants were trapped in the vehicle. The remaining occupant and owner of the vehicle, Kevin Hart, left the scene to his nearby residence to get medical attention. The driver was located in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and determined not to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Hart and Black sustained major back injuries as a result of this collision and were transported and treated at nearby hospitals (Northridge – Hart, UCLA Westwood – Black).”
Hart is known for his love for cars, and routinely posts via social media about them. Back in July, Hart took to Instagram with a photograph of what appears to be the car involved in the crash, explaining he’d got it for his 40th birthday.
