James Holzhauer is giving back to society after being the champion on Jeopardy!

James has won a total of $2,462,216 from 32 straight games on the show. The 34-year-old has decided to donate a portion of the money to charity under the name of show’s host, Alex Trebek.

Holzhauer has pledged $1,109,14 to the 2019 Naperville Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk in Naperville, Illinois.

Yes, I thought that too at first when I got to know about the donation amount but while that may be an odd amount of money to donate, Holzhauer says that the number holds significance to him. It’s his four-year-old daughter, Natasha’s birthday.

On Holzhauer’s final episode, Trebek thanked him for the card his daughter made him. He said, ‘I want to express my thanks to your beautiful little daughter, Natasha, for having made this get well card for me. That was very sweet of her.’

Ann Zediker is raising money for the fight against pancreatic cancer. He reached out to Holzhauer and invited him to the upcoming event on July 14th.

She said, ‘My gut told me it was the right thing to do. It couldn’t hurt.’

While James wasn’t able to make the event, he offered to make a donation.

She told CNN in an interview, ‘There was no expectation on my end. I was just thrilled that he responded. I knew that Alex’s story had an impact on him, just like it has an impact on anyone who’s working with a family member who’s going through pancreatic cancer.’

Holzhauer will return to the show for the 36th season. He has made history after hitting the two million dollars making him one of only three players to achieve the feat.

He lost to contestant Ken Jennings who won a record $2.52 million dollars.
