A hero mother is among 20 victims of Saturday’s assault at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas.
A gunman, identified by police as Patrick Crusius, suddenly opened fire on the crowded store. At least 20 people lost their lives and 26 more were injured.
Hero mom Jordan Anchondo, 25, was also one of the 20 who lost their lives while shielding her two-month-old son from bullets.
She was shopping for back-to-school supplies all the hell broke loose.
Anchondo’s sister Leta Jamrowski said that she fell on top of the infant to protect him as a result of which the boy got injured and is now suffering from broken bones but is alive, a gift given to him by his mother.
Jamrowski, 19, told the Associated Press, ‘From the baby’s injuries, they said that more than likely my sister was trying to shield him,’
‘So when she got shot she was holding him and she fell on him, so that’s why he broke some of his bones.
‘He pretty much lived because she gave her life.’
Jordan’s husband Andre also passed away in the incident. A friend, Koteiba “Koti” Azzam said: ‘I love the guy. He had the character and the charisma..’
She further added, ‘Azzam said Anchondo had started a business in El Paso, building things from granite and stone, and made it successful through hard work.’
In addition to their two-month-old son who is now stable in hospital, the couple also shares two daughters.
