All of us wants to have a happy and long life. In order to achieve this, we do a lot of things such as eating healthy food, exercising, laughing and many more. But the award to the most fun way of prolonging life goes to babysitting your grand kids.
Grand kids simply love their grandparents. They are the most fun members of the family. They spoil their grand kids, take them to fun places and act like kid themselves.
A study published in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior, run a study with a set of 500 people aged 70 and up. The results of the study depicted that the senior citizens who takes care of a child had a lower risk of dying over a 20-year period.
So doing all those fun things with your grand kids actually pays off in a longer lifespan.
Dr. Ronan Factora, a doctor at the world-famous Cleveland Clinic, stated that,
“There is a link between providing this care and reducing stress. If providing this care to [grand kids] and others…is one way that we can actually reduce stress, then these activities should be of benefit to folks who are grandparents and provide this care.”
Another study conducted in Australia found that even a small to moderate amount of time spent with grand kids can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease. This happens because babysitting kids increases the brain power and lowers the chances of developing depression.
What a beautiful Win-Win Situation.
