The latest teaser for Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile has been released today (January 25), giving fans the first real glimpse at Zac Efron as Ted Bundy. The film is debuting at Sundance and stars Zac Efron as the photogenic serial kill*r, who committed end number crimes the 1970s.
Furthermore, today viewers were given an idea into how dark the film will truly be; in under two minutes, we see Efron commit many crimes including a hammer and other evil looking tools.
According to IndieWire: the film is directed by Joe Berlinger, who also directed Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes – a docu-series on the serial killer, which was recently released on Netflix.
The main film stars Zac Efron and Lily Collins, who plays Bundy’s long-lasting sweetheart Elizabeth Kloepfer. Also, if the teaser is anything to pass by, the film will focus a lot of its attention on this relationship. In particular, it looks set to explore Bundy’s manipulation of Kloepfer, who struggled to believe that her partner was capable of such unthinkable crimes.

In this first teaser for the film, it’s not hard to see that control at work. Bundy and Kloepfer meet at a bar in Seattle in 1969, where Bundy can’t take his eyes off of Kloepfer. Although her friends can’t quite understand the relationship, the two embark on a romance. But the honeymoon phase is abruptly halted when Bundy is picked up by the police. The loving family life the two have built with Kloepfer’s daughter, whom Bundy dotes on, becomes shaky as Kloepfer doesn’t know who to believe: The newspapers or the man she loves and thought she knew. As Bundy relishes the spotlight of his trial, Kloepfer struggles to reconcile a truth too painful to accept.
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile will have its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 26.
