When I was a kid, I was always being told to get a job I absolutely love and everything else will become life as usual.
But till now, nobody ever offered me a job of eating pasta in Italy every day.
No, I am not joking. I am talking about an actual job. Airbnb is looking for someone, who they can send to an Italian village and teach them to make pasta. The person might also be asked to host a few dinner parties with the newly acquired chef skills and the most important condition – “all expenses paid.”
Sounds good? No, it is not good. It is literally the best thing I have heard in a long long time. All the best food comes from Italy – pizza, pasta, and other carb-based meals. This is as perfect as any job can get.
The job is being called, ‘The Italian Sabbatical’, and you will need to locate to the village of Grottole, situated in the south of the country. Here, you will get learn a new way of life while relaxing in Italy and honing your chef skills.
Airbnb describe it as:
“Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and become a temporary citizen of a village in the south of Italy. Immerse yourself in the local culture and discover how to speak, act and cook the Italian way.’
‘You will also get to support the local community by hosting an Airbnb Experience. Your goal? To help the local community revitalize the small village of Grottole.”
The company is looking towards hiring four people to relocate to Grottole for three months. The candidates will ‘live as locals’ and become temporary citizens of the village.
They are also required to volunteer for a local, non-profit organisation called ‘Wonder Grottole’, who are working towards revitalizing the town’s historical center.
Check it out:
Grottole is a small village, with a population of around 300 residents. It has more than 600 empty homes and is at risk of disappearing for good.
The initiative is taken by Airbnb and Wonder Grottole together and they are looking for willing participants to inject some new life into the place.
In return, you will learn the art of making pasta, become an expert beekeeper, grow local produce, and help restore the village’s historic center. The village dates back to the 10th century.
So what are you waiting for? Apply right away. Applications would be accepted before midnight on February 17, 2019, so get applying!
