Date went wrong when it comes to splitting the bill.

In the past, it was normal for a man to pay the bill while dating because in old days women were less likely to work. But still, in some countries and communities, this hangover from the past is still very much accepted.

First dates usually awkward and this little ambiguity only adds to the confusion. Reddit user u/CuteBananaMuffin recently posted a story on his Reddit account and it’s legit to say his date was totally the old fashioned type.

After doing the progressive things on the first date he thought he’d ask her for the second date. According to him, everything was going good, until the bill arrived.

According to the messages, her order included lobster and a 90$ bottle of wine – whereas CuteBananaMuffin kept things fairly modest, paying 17$ for carbonara and a beer.

Here is the complete story:

While he returned with: “Well…ofc I wanted to have se* with you but then I realized I might have to pay £20 for that.

She replied by calling him ‘fu*king as*hole’, which I guess is fair enough considering the above.

One person said: “If someone invites me out then I go because I want to see that person and would never expect a free meal. That would be selfish and entitled.”

A second added: “I’m a girl and I always go into the mindset that I pay for my drinks/food with anyone. Guy or girl.

“If they offer to pay I’ll let them but offer to pay theirs next time we go out.”

Another said: “Anyone that expects that royalty treatment is not someone you want in your life. Good move.”
