A £5billion theme park also known as ‘Britain’s Disneyland’ is finally all ready to open in Kent in 2024. The venture have signed a deal with Hollywood studio Paramount Pictures.
The London Resort will be based on Swanscombe Peninsula, between Dartford and Gravesend. It will be home to attractions from films including The Italian Job, The Godfather, and Mission: Impossible.
The future of the Resort was in jeopardy as the deal fell out in 2017. The resort’s developers and Paramount were unable to mutually agree on the rights to some of the major films. Prior to the disagreement, the resort was set to be called the London Paramount.
Paramount along with other partners will now give rights for their content and will be a part of the theme of many of the rides at the 872-acre site.
The 872-acre park will feature more than 50 rides, a 2,000-seat theatre, and a huge nightclub.
The newly appointed chief executive of the resort, PY Gerbeau was also the in charge of the Millennium Dome. He told Kent Online: ‘The new partnership with Paramount is fantastic news for everyone.
‘Now the best of Hollywood will be joining the best of British from BBC Studios and ITV Studios, to create amazing and unique experiences for the whole family.’
‘I am delighted to join The London Resort and to play my part in helping to create a world-class destination to rival all others.
‘Central to that strategy is to partner with the best brands from across TV, film, music and entertainment.
‘Having Paramount on board is a major step towards realising that ambition.
The president, Kevin Suh said: ‘The London Resort represents a truly global resort opportunity and we’re delighted to be playing our part in bringing iconic movies to life in truly immersive experiences and rides.
‘We’re also delighted, as the most iconic studio in Hollywood, to be sharing our unparalleled catalogue of instantly recognisable films and characters.’
