Artist Paints Fake Shadows in Public Places and Messes With Pedestrians Minds Passing By

When artists come to streets, the end result is always great. An artist from Redwood City, California, Damon Belanger, has taken to the streets of the city this time to make surreal street art.

And instead of normal sidewalk painting, he has tried something new and it is leaving pedestrian halting and taking another look at the art. How is he doing that you may ask? Belanger is working with shadows, literally.

He is creating shadows sprouting from everyday objects on the city’s roadways. Till now, he has painted numerous shadows around objects and animals, including monkeys, cats, and aliens, among others.

In order to give shape to shadowy sidewalk art, he begins by stenciling in the outlines of the shadows he is seeking to create. He then paints it with dark grey to give it that shadowy appearance.

Belanger is not alone who creates such artwork. Dos Jotas, from Madrid, Spain, also makes shadowy artwork. He has painted along people’s everyday walks, and even on the walls in the city.

His artwork cast shadows on the walls in the city, some of them only being visible in the evening hours.

Check out the artwork for both of these artists and prepare to be amazed and fooled at the same time.
